Family-owned Great Harvest Bread Co. has been a part of the Bellingham community since 1979. We celebrate over 30 years in Whatcom County with owners Hans and Rene Wendt at the helm.

When you walk through the door of our bakery at 305 E. Magnolia, you’ll notice that we’re different than the average bakery. We’ll be up to our elbows in dough, working hard to the beat of the music, our baking team cranking out loaf after loaf of hand-made whole grain breads in our open kitchen. We’ll greet you warmly and offer you a free slice off our bread board, complete with butter and local honey. You may see the owner and his family in the mix. We believe in the community of our customers, giving generously to others, and creating an authentic product with simple, high-quality ingredients.

We start early each morning before the sun comes up, beginning with fresh stone-ground flours that we use to make our baked goods. We use the whole grain: what goes in our mill is the same thing that comes out, with nothing removed, treated, or added. You can taste and smell the freshness in the air at our store, and also in the fresh slice that you might enjoy when you come to visit.

We love to give generously to the community that in turn supports us, so get in touch with us to inquire about bread donations to local charity events and fundraisers. We also LOVE to give tours to groups, from preschoolers to seniors…just give us a call to arrange a time on our tour days.
